superpowers...usually compensate for or reflect something about the character's personality-- either what they wish for, or what they lack, or the opposite.
What does penny want out of life? I don't think she wants to fly/run away, or to hear people's thoughts.
she wants to be successful,
she doesn't want to rely on anyone, though
she wants to succeed independently
she's assertive, and very forward.
She's not afraid of things or people, really
she's insecure about men and about being alone

Idea #1 - She could bend light? Like, distort the light in a room, make it dark or bright, make her body shine like a star or push all the light away
Irrel: Yeah, but what could she accomplish with that?
The guys would be obsessed with trying to get her to understand wavelengths and digital information and convince her to transmit signals to their computers or something. =)
Penny would rather instantly cook her own lunch, and she can also burn things with lasers in self defense or attack.
And she can make rainbows!
And develop a sudden interest in photography, too. She can also blind someone with bright flashes.
example scenario: she is arguing with Leonard or Sheldon and she makes the light disappear from the room and everything go dark. Howard and Sheldon get distracted by the impossibility of her making the light disappear when it's still connected to the electricity and still emitting light... except the light isn't there, and it's dark.
